The Brazilian popular songbook is rich in romantic songs that tell stories of love and hate, separations and reunions, unrequited passions. Placed side by side, these songs help us tell various stories that, when combined, end up revealing a New Story similar to, yet different from, each of the original stories.
While some actors sang, others acted out the sung stories, which unfolded until their final resolution.
The men sang songs that expressed their reasons, feelings, and complaints about the female universe. The women responded by also expressing, through the lyrics and melodies of their songs, their complaints, reasons, and feelings about the male universe.
The play portrays the story of a couple who, at the moment of separation, revisit the past and relive everything they experienced together. Each has their own particular version, and from the clash of these perspectives, the spectacle is born. A kind of “duel” in the style of “Dalva and Herivelto.”
Everything unfolded with audience participation, as they were constantly invited to express their opinions about the events unfolding before their eyes and through their ears. Finally, faced with the ultimate impasse, the spectators were called upon to conclude the story along with the actors. Should she forgive her beloved? Does he deserve another chance?
